Materials

Materials in the library include books, magazines, newspapers, music CDs, entertainment and non-fiction videos and DVDs, audio books, income tax forms, career guides, college catalogs and local history materials. Search our Library Catalog for listings.

BiFolkal Kit

Check out our Bifolkal kits located on the second floor, of the Library in Programming Resources. Our kits are a packaged program designed to bring back memories of a particular time or topic. Each kit is designed to unlock remarkable stories, humorous anecdotes, and first-person accounts of history, experience and life.

Computer Access

Equipment the library maintains for public use:

  • Wireless Internet Access
  • Computers available:
    • Computers for searching our library catalog, online databases and accessing the internet.
    • Computers with Rosetta Stone to learn a new language. Headsets with microphones available at the Information Desk for use in the library.
    • Adaptive Technology Computer for specialized needs.
    • Second floor computers for 7th grade students to adults with internet access, Earbuds are available to purchase for $1.
    • Creation Station with the same software as the Adult Computers plus a flatbed scanner capable of scanning photos, negatives or text. This workstation is also capable of transferring your VHS tapes onto a DVD.
    • First floor computers for patrons in the 8th grade or under. Headphones available for use. Adults may sit at the same computer with a child and assist them at the computers.

Guidelines for Computer Use:

  • A valid library card and PIN or a Visitor Pass, which is available at the Reference Desk, is required to use all computers except the Library Catalogs.
  • Users must follow our Internet Acceptable Use Policy.
  • No cell phone calls at the computers.
  • Files may be saved to a USB device or temporarily to the "My Documents" folder.
  • The Check Out Desk has 2GB flashdrives for $7.
  • Printing from the computers in black & white costs 10 cents per page and color costs 50 cents per page. Value may be added to your library card or Visitor Pass at either the Check Out or Information Desks.
  • Photocopiers are available capable of scanning to email or printing color at 50 cents per page or black & white at 10 cents per page.

Wireless Printing In The Library From Your Laptop

Thank you for using our wireless service.  Would you like to Print from the wireless Network? If Yes, proceed to options A or B.

Option A - First Time User

  1. Click here to download printcontrol.exe.file.
  2. Click Yes to download and Run. (Depending on your browser, you may need to download first, and then launch the PrintControl.exe)
  3. When the Installation completes, a small window will appear on the bottom right corner of your desktop.
  4. Click on "Start Print Session". When the next window appears, Enter your library card number and PIN, and choose the library.
  5. When submitting print jobs, select the "Wireless Printer" to submit your jobs. Any print job submitted while logged in can be retrieved at the Print Release Station
  6. To end the wireless print session, click on "Terminate Session"
  7. To Exit print Client, click on "Terminate Print Client"
  8. To continue after installing, click here to return to the Novi Library Website

Option B - Returning User

  1. Go to Start --> Programs --> Wireless Library Print System --> Wireless Print System
  2. Click on "Start Print Session". When the next window appears, Enter your library card number and PIN, and choose your library you are printing at.
  3. When submitting print jobs, select the "Wireless Printer" to submit your jobs. Any print job submitted while logged in can be retrieved at the Print Release Station
  4. To end the wireless print session, click on "Terminate session"
  5. To Exit print Client, click on "Terminate Print Client"
  6. To continue after installing, click here to return to the Novi Library Website

Uninstalling Print Module from your laptop:

If you no longer need Library Wireless printing and are ready to uninstall the print module from your laptop, go to Start --> Programs --> Wireless Library Print System --> Uninstall Wireless Library Print System. This will completely remove the print module from your wireless device.

Computer Pass

There will be a $1 charge per COMPUTER PASS for those without a library card. Another great reason to sign-up now for a library card.

Services and Accommodations

Material Returns

We have two options for you to return your materials to the Library!

  1. A drive-up RETURN, located just south of the Library entrance.
  2. You may sort the items into the return slots as you enter the Library.

Copy Machines

There are two public access copy machines in the Library that can print in black and white ($0.10/page) or color ($0.50/page). The first floor copy machine is located in the Copy Center, next to the Book Nook. The second floor copy machine is adjacent to the Information Desk.

Fax Machine

A public access fax machine is located in the first floor Copy Center, next to the Book Nook. Domestic rates are $1.75 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. International rates are $3.95 for the first page and $3.45 for each additional page.

Group Study Rooms

We have nine group study rooms available for patron use on a first-come, first-served basis. These rooms are designed to be used for groups from 2 to 6 individuals.

Meeting Rooms

The Library has six different meeting rooms available for rent. For information and reservations, please contact the Library Administration at 248-869-7204, Monday-Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  A completed, signed application must be approved before the reservation can be confirmed. The meeting room policy and Schedule of Loans, Fines and Fees will provide necessary information for use of the room. Reservations can made through 248-869-7204 or administration@novilibrary.org.

Display Case

We have a display case available for individuals and groups to display collections. Please contact the Library Administration at 248-869-7204, Monday-Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM to reserve your spot.
