Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War

Detroit Catholic Central High School-Novi has been awarded the privilege of hosting Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, a traveling exhibit organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The exhibit’s grand opening will take place on Sunday, September 13 at Catholic Central High School and will be on display there until October 8, 2015. As part of this traveling exhibit, the Novi Library will be hosting a mini-series Lincoln presentation on Tuesday, September 15 which will focus on the traveling exhibit and the life and times of Abraham Lincoln.

Authors Live Luncheon

Enjoy a lunch experience that brings people together to talk about great books and hear from the authors that created them! Lunch will include soup, salad, dessert and beverage. Book selling and signing will be available. Event is limited to 200 attendees. Special thanks to the Friends of the Novi Library and Fox Run Y.O.U. for making this program possible.

Bonnie Virage-The Stovepipe
Bonnie, age four, along with four of her siblings, was taken by force from her home in rural Canada and placed in the care of the Children’s Aid Society. Over the next fourteen years, the children are split up and reunited multiple times, moving from foster home to foster home, always hoping to find one another again. This heart wrenching yet triumphant memoir, The Stovepipe, recounts the author’s experience growing up as a foster child in the 1940s and 1950s.

David Barr- Villa Barr and Time Reigns, Like Confetti
David is an architectural designer and creator of site-specific public sculptures, who was born and raised in Detroit. Many of his pieces of work are geometric and made of wood, steel and stone and are much influenced by his admiration for the megaliths, and the relationships of the stones. He has seen in his foreign travels to such places as Stonehenge in England. In addition to his work as a sculptor, David has also self-published 11 books which pertain to his works of art in surrounding locations.

Keri Topouzian-A Perfect Armenian
Keri Topouzian, D.O., is a physician who practices holistic and alternative medicine. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and is married with four children. His grandparents hailed from four different villages in ancient Armenia (now part of Turkey), each immigrating separately to the United States in the early 1900s. Their personal stories and the struggles of their people inspired his first novel.
