Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War
Detroit Catholic Central High School-Novi has been awarded the privilege of hosting Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, a traveling exhibit organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The exhibit’s grand opening will take place on Sunday, September 13 at Catholic Central High School and will be on display there until October 8, 2015. As part of this traveling exhibit, the Novi Library will be hosting a mini-series Lincoln presentation on Tuesday, September 15 which will focus on the traveling exhibit and the life and times of Abraham Lincoln.
Authentic Indian Cooking
Indian dishes will be the specialty of the day. Don’t miss wonderful tips, tidbits, demonstrations and, of course, samples of delicious dishes. Recipe handouts will be provided as well as an entertaining and educational time. No children please.
Parent To Parent Book Discussion
Participate with Novi Community School District Superintendent, Dr. Steve Matthews, in a parent book club. Read books that challenge, inspire, and help us as we work with our children and the students in our district. This program will be open to 35 participants. At registration a copy of the current book will be provided. *Be sure to watch the website for book titles.
Novi Concert Band Performs
The beautiful colors of the season will be enhanced by the music of the Novi Concert Band. Be prepared to hear some college fight songs too. This is an amazing and energetic concert for all ages, so mark your calendars and join us.
Appreciating To Kill A Mockingbird
U of D Mercy Professors, Michael G. Barry and Heather Hill-Vasquez, will be our special guests as they discuss the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Published in 1960, it was immediately successful and has become a classic of modern American literature.
Michigan Opera Theater (MOT) Presents The Great American Songbook
A lively and entertaining revue of songs from the American Musical Theatre. MOT vocalists, Maria Cimarelli, and Mark Vondrak accompanied by pianist, Joseph Jackson, will have you tapping your toes and enjoying a musical stroll down memory lane. Sponsored by the Friends of the Novi Library.
Authors Live Luncheon
