Ongoing Programs

TEEN SPACE

Teen Space was created for students to “hang out” and socialize when traditional use of the Library is not needed. Open to students in grades 7-12. Monday-Friday from 2-5pm. In partnership with the City of Novi Parks and Recreation Department, Novi Community School District and Novi Youth Assistance.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD

Join the TAB as we create and plan programs for teens at the Library. Meeting attendance will count as volunteer time.  Click here for more information on the Teen Advisory Board.

Teen Volunteers

Interested in volunteering? The Teen Services Department is looking for students 14 years or older to assist with the Summer Reading Program. Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with people of all ages. Applications to volunteer are available online.

You must attend the Teen Volunteer Orientation on either May 22 or May 23. If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Fricke or call 248-869-7218.

Novi Public Library Summer Reading Program

Our Summer Reading Program begins on Friday, June 1, and continues until Saturday, August 25. You will be able to go online or come into the Library to sign up. Teen volunteers will be on hand to assist you with the registration process. Additional information may be found in the Summer Reading Program brochures and at the library.

Get involved with the Library by joining our Teen Advisory Board (TAB). All high school students are welcome. Help plan teen programs, organize community service projects, and volunteer at programs. Meeting attendance will count towards community service hours.

Pizza & Pages Book Club

A book club just for tweens! Welcoming students to join us for pizza and trivia about the book. All participants must have read the book prior to the program. We will be reading books from various genres, including realistic fiction, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, and more. Visit our website, novilibrary.org, for the title being read.

SAT 101: Everything You Need To Know

SAT Practice Test

Saturday, 10am-2pm

Sylvan Learning Center will be hosting a free SAT diagnostic test for frst time SAT test takers (same test if you have taken in previous years at the Novi Library). These practice tests are designed to allow students to recreate test-day conditions, understand what subject areas they need to focus on during their continued test preparation and get ready for the day when their scores really count. Students must bring a calculator and are encouraged to bring a water bottle and snack.

Join IMA Sports and Novi Youth Assistance for a program series that helps children ages 8-14 years old overcome the negative impact of bullying. This program teaches participants:
 
  • Awareness – How to identify bully behavior
  • Avoidance – Realistic ways to avoid being a target of bullying
  • Assertiveness – How to stop bullying behavior.
The program series is broken down into four - 1-hour sessions. Participation in all four sessions is preferred.

Battle of the Books Informational Meeting

Come and join the fun of the Novi Library’s Battle of the Books.  Are you interested in participating in the Battle?  Are you interested in coaching a team?  We’ll give you the inside scoop on what it takes to participate as a student or how to coach a team.  You’ll also learn some tips on how questions are developed for the competition and what to expect the day of the battle.  If you like to read and battle you won’t want to miss this!

A Community Reads

In its ninth year and going strong with more than 700 readers annually, the Neighborhood Library Association (NLA) introduces Anna Clark author of The Poisoned City as its 2018 Community Read title. As part of the NLA, we will again partner with the libraries of Lyon Township, Northville District, Salem-South Lyon District, Wixom and Walled Lake City Library to host a variety of book discussions and programs leading up to a special author presentation on Friday, November 9, at 7pm at  Wixom Public Library, a new location for this event!
