Mini-Battle of the Books
March 6
   
Every year we have a 3rd-4th grade Mini-Battle of the Books, where teams read 4 books and answer questions about them. Teams are formed the day of the Battle, so all you have to do is read the books and be ready to have fun! Join us to win prizes and make new friends!

Story Time

The Next Story Time Session Begins January 3rd.  Please check our program calendar for specific dates and times.

Tot Time    Preschool Story Times    Snack Tales    

The Novi Public Library offers a variety of story time programming for youth ranging in age from 12 months to 5 years old. "Story time sticks" are required to enjoy story time.  The sticks will be available 15 minutes prior to the start of story time and are limited to the first 40 participants.  Registration is required for the "Snack Tales" program. Please choose the story time and session that:

  • Fits your family's schedule AND is intended for the your child's age group.
  • Children must be the designated age to participate in the story times for that age group.
  • Due to the expected number of participants, each child may attend only one age-appropriate story time each week.
  • Please arrive on time for story time. It is very distracting for the children and the librarian when others arrive after the program has started. Please be considerate of others and do not enter the program if you are late. Thank you for your cooperation.

Baby Time

This program is for babies, ages birth-12 months and/or non-walkers, to attend with a parent/caregiver. Babies and their parent/caregiver will be introduced to engaging stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays and other activities to promote early literacy and socialization.

Tot Time

This program is for tots, ages 12-23 months, to attend with a parent or caregiver. Tots and their parent/caregiver will be introduced to a wide variety of fun stories, finger plays, songs, and other activities that can be practiced at home to promote early literacy. We will meet weekly for approximately thirty minutes.  Older siblings are welcome.

Preschool Story Times

"The Two of Us"

This is designed for children who are two years old. The program is designed to introduce children to books and to interact with others. Toddler and their parent/caregiver participate together in a weekly half-hour program of stories, tunes, and action rhymes. Siblings are welcome.  Siblings are welcome.

"Three's Company"

This is for youngsters 3 years old, who may be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. During the weekly half-hour program, we share literature with your youngster and mix it with amusing finger plays and melodies.  Siblings are welcome.

"On My Own"

This is designed not only to promote a love of books and reading but also to be a listening, sharing, and enriching time for 4 and 5 year olds. The weekly half-hour program consists of stories, songs, conversation, and kid fun. "On My Own" youngsters attend the program without an escort, but for legal reasons, as well as the comfort of your children, parents, or caregivers must remain in the Library during story times.

Snack Tales

What happens when you combine great stories with an easy-to-make treat? You get "Snack Tales!" This program is for kids in grades K-4 and at each session kids will enjoy a story and make an edible treat based on that story. Kids attend the program without an escort, but for legal reasons, as well as for the comfort of the children, parents or caregivers must remain in the library during story time. Lego Club

Do you like to make interesting creations with Legos? Then this club is for you! Bring a Lego creation for show-and-tell and we'll have a great time creating whatever you can think of. We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination. For kids in grades K-4.
